Pune, 27th June 2026: A 34-year-old woman who operates a cloud kitchen in Wakad area of Pimpri Chinchwad has approached the police after allegedly receiving an extortion call from a person claiming to be associated with the Arzoo Bishnoi gang, who demanded Rs 5 crore and threatened her with serious consequences.

According to the Wakad police, the call was made on Thursday using an internet-based calling service. The caller introduced himself as a member of the Arzoo Bishnoi gang and allegedly warned the woman that she would face dire consequences if the ransom amount was not paid.

Police said the woman lodged a complaint soon after receiving the threat. During the inquiry, investigators also learnt that her husband had previously received a similar extortion call purportedly from the Bishnoi gang while he was in Dubai.

A police officer said efforts are underway to trace the caller and verify the origin of the internet-based call.

The incident comes weeks after unidentified persons allegedly fired gunshots outside a furniture mall in Ravet in May as part of an extortion attempt involving a demand of Rs 2 crore.
