Pune: Undri Residents Allege PMC Is Dumping Garbage Near Housing Society, Demand Immediate Action
Reported by Shoaib Tadvi
Undri, 27th June 2026: Residents of Godrej Prana Society in Undri have raised serious concerns after Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) sanitation vehicles allegedly dumped garbage on an open plot near their residential complex over the past few days, creating a foul smell and unhygienic conditions.
The dumping site is located at Survey No. 28/26, Handewadi–Undri, Pune – 411060, near Godrej Prana Society on Kondhwa–Saswad Road, adjacent to Tata Inora Park.
According to residents, garbage has been accumulating at the site for several days, with waste overflowing from collection containers and spreading across the open plot. They fear the continued dumping could lead to mosquito breeding, attract stray animals, and pose serious health risks, particularly during the monsoon season.
Expressing her concern, Sanghamitra Karmakar, a resident of Godrej Prana Society, said, “I don’t know what they are doing, but they are dumping garbage here. I think this is becoming a new PMC dumping spot. It is very close to our society, and this has been happening for the past couple of days. Garbage should not be dumped near residential areas. It is unhygienic, and the foul smell is becoming a major problem.”
Following the complaint, Suchita Pansare, Assistant Municipal Commissioner and Ward Officer of the Kondhwa–Undri Ward Office, assured residents that immediate action would be taken.
“I will ensure proper sanitation and garbage collection. I will speak to the concerned sanitation staff and get the waste cleared as soon as possible,” Pansare said.
Residents have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation to immediately remove the accumulated waste, stop further dumping at the location, and ensure that garbage is transported only to authorised disposal facilities. They have also appealed for regular monitoring of the site to prevent it from becoming a permanent dumping ground and to safeguard public health in the rapidly growing Undri locality.
