Pune, 27th June 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will launch the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign across the city on Sunday, June 28, in accordance with the directives of the Maharashtra government. The campaign will continue until July 3, with a target of administering two drops of the oral polio vaccine to approximately 3,16,275 children in the 0–5 years age group.

To ensure smooth implementation, the civic body has set up 1,375 polio booths across the city through its 15 ward offices, 54 dispensaries, 19 maternity homes, and 65 Arogya Vardhini health centres.

Special teams will also be deployed in high-risk areas, including brick kilns, migrant settlements, and construction sites, to ensure that no child is left out of the immunisation drive. From June 29 to July 3, as many as 1,990 teams will conduct door-to-door visits to verify that every eligible child has received the polio vaccine.

As part of the campaign’s preparations, medical officers, nurses, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and volunteers have completed their training. The civic body has also updated its list of eligible children after conducting a citywide survey.

Transit vaccination teams will be stationed at major bus terminals, railway stations, metro stations, and Pune Airport to administer the vaccine to children who are travelling during the campaign.

PMC Health Officer Dr Nina Borade has appealed to all parents to ensure that their children receive the additional polio dose on Sunday, June 28, even if they have already completed their routine polio vaccination schedule. She emphasised that the extra dose is essential to strengthen immunity and support the nationwide effort to eradicate polio.
