Pune Traffic Advisory: Road Closed Between Jehangir Chowk and Mangaldas Chowk After Sewer Line Burst
Pune, 2nd July 2026: The Pune Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory after a sewer line burst caused sewage to spill onto the road between Jehangir Chowk and Mangaldas Chowk in the Koregaon Park traffic division on Thursday.
According to the advisory, the sewage overflow has made the road slippery, posing a safety risk to motorists. Repair work is currently underway by the Pune Municipal Corporation, and the stretch from Jehangir Chowk towards Mangaldas Chowk has been temporarily closed to traffic from 11 am on July 2 until the completion of the repairs.
Motorists have been urged to use the following alternative routes:
Vehicles coming from the RTO side should proceed via Jehangir Chowk and continue through Alankar Chowk towards their destination.
Motorists travelling from Sadhu Vaswani Road or Pune Railway Station towards Jehangir Chowk should avoid the closed stretch and instead turn left at Alankar Chowk and proceed via IB Chowk to reach their destination.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandeep Bhajibhakare said, “A sewer line has burst between Jehangir Chowk and Mangaldas Chowk, resulting in sewage overflowing onto the road and making the surface slippery. The affected stretch has been temporarily closed while the Pune Municipal Corporation carries out repair work. We appeal to all motorists to use the designated alternative routes and strictly follow traffic police instructions for their own safety and to ensure smooth traffic movement.”
The Traffic Branch has requested commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the diversion plan until the repair work is completed.
