Pune: PCMC Collects Record Rs 526 Crore in Property Tax in First Quarter
Pimpri Chinchwad, 2nd July 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has collected a record Rs 526.14 crore in property tax in the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, the highest-ever collection for the April-June period in the civic body’s history.
According to civic officials, 4.45 lakh property owners, or nearly 60% of the city’s 7.44 lakh registered properties, paid their taxes by June 30 and availed of the early payment rebate. Of these, over 3.47 lakh taxpayers made online payments.
Officials attributed the record collection to an extensive awareness campaign on tax rebates, doorstep distribution of tax bills through women’s self-help groups, and digital payment facilities.
Online transactions accounted for the bulk of the revenue, contributing Rs 407.89 crore, followed by cash payments of Rs 21.47 crore, cheques worth Rs 16.24 crore, demand drafts of Rs 15.75 crore and Rs 10.45 crore through various digital payment applications.
Among the civic zones, Wakad recorded the highest collection at Rs 72.87 crore, followed by Thergaon (Rs 46.71 crore), Kaspate Wasti (Rs 39.33 crore), Kiwale (Rs 38.37 crore) and Chikhali (Rs 37.95 crore).
The first-quarter collection has shown a steady rise over the past few years, increasing from Rs 171 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 255 crore in 2022-23, Rs 454 crore in 2023-24, Rs 440 crore in 2024-25, Rs 524 crore in 2025-26 and Rs 526 crore this year.
Deputy municipal commissioner (Tax Assessment and Collection) Sachin Pawar said the civic body would now focus on recovering dues from major defaulters. He said attachment notices had already been issued to large commercial defaulters and recovery action would be intensified in the coming months. He urged property owners with pending dues to clear them to avoid attachment of their properties.
