Pimpri Chinchwad, 2nd July 2026: The Maharashtra government has approved the allotment of around 50 acres of land in Tathawade for the construction of a permanent headquarters for the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, ending a long-pending demand for a dedicated administrative complex.

The land, located in the state animal husbandry department’s livestock farm, was sanctioned through a government resolution issued jointly by the revenue and forest departments on Wednesday.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, set up in 2018, has been functioning from multiple locations due to the absence of a permanent headquarters. Besides the police commissioner’s office, the proposed campus will accommodate a parade ground and other administrative facilities.

According to the government resolution, nearly 20 hectares (around 50 acres) of contiguous land has been carved out from the 67.94-hectare livestock farm in Tathawade and allotted to the police department after examining various alternatives.

The government has attached several conditions to the allotment. The police department must utilise the land for the sanctioned purpose within three years of taking possession and obtain all statutory approvals required for construction.

The government has also retained the right to reclaim the land if it is required for a public purpose in the future or if any of the allotment conditions are violated.
