UWA Pune Honours Freny Zal Tarapore, Renames Hall After Dr Prabha Deodhar
Pune, 4th July 2026: The University Women’s Association (UWA), Pune has presented the Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 to Freny Zal Tarapore, an eminent educationist, Founder Principal of SNDT College of Home Science, Pune, and former Trustee of UWA. The award recognized her outstanding contributions to the field of education and her impactful work in social development during the recently held program. Premchand Bafna, Dr Suchitra Roy, Freny Zal Tarapore and Malati Kalmadi were present on the occasion.
The UWA has also announced the renaming of its hall as the Dr. Prabha Deodhar Memorial Hall, former President of UWA who made significant contributions contribution to the Association, particularly her visionary role in establishing the Working Women’s Hostel and strengthening the organization’s foundation.
The event was well attended by the families of both Freny Zal Tarapore and Dr. Prabha Deodhar, along with Dr. Narayan Hegde, Past President of BAIF, members from various social organisations, and faculty and alumni of SNDT College, all of whom gathered to honour the legacy of two remarkable contributors to education and social service.
