Pune: Kasarsai Dam Releases 3,860 Cusecs of Water as Reservoir Reaches 93.45% Capacity

Hinjawadi, 6th July 2026: The Pune Irrigation Department has started releasing water from Kasarsai Dam in Maval after the reservoir reached 93.45% of its storage capacity amid continuous heavy rainfall in the catchment area.

According to the department, a controlled discharge of 3,860 cusecs into the Kasarsai River commenced at 2:00 PM on Monday to regulate the water level in the reservoir.

Officials said the volume of discharge may be increased or reduced depending on rainfall intensity and the inflow into the dam.

The Irrigation Department has issued a public advisory urging people not to enter the Kasarsai River under any circumstances. Residents have also been asked to immediately shift livestock, agricultural pumps, vehicles, and any other materials lying in or near the riverbed to safer locations.

People living in low-lying areas have been advised to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions as the river’s water level is expected to rise following the release.

The advisory was issued by Executive Engineer D. M. Dubal of the Pune Irrigation Department, who appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and strictly follow safety instructions until further notice.
