Pune Municipal Commissioner Reviews Disaster Response After Heavy Rain, Orders Swift Action in Affected Areas
Pune, 7th July 2026: In the wake of the heavy rainfall that lashed Pune on Monday, Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the city’s disaster management response and direct officials to intensify relief and restoration efforts.
During the meeting, officials from all regional ward offices presented reports on the impact of the heavy rain and the measures taken to address the situation. The review covered waterlogging incidents across the city, cases of fallen trees, the reasons behind such incidents, and preventive measures to reduce similar occurrences in the future.
The Commissioner also reviewed the number of residents evacuated from rain-affected areas and assessed the arrangements made for their temporary shelter, food, drinking water, and other essential facilities.
Directing officials to work on a war footing, Ram instructed all concerned departments to ensure immediate action in affected areas and to minimize inconvenience to citizens. He emphasized the need for close coordination among all civic departments to ensure an effective and timely response to rain-related emergencies.
During the meeting, officials also briefed the Commissioner on operational challenges being faced on the ground, following which he provided necessary guidance and suggested appropriate measures to address them.
The review meeting was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner (Estate) Prajit Nair, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divte, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, and officials from various departments of the Pune Municipal Corporation.
