Vishrantwadi/Dhanori, 14th July 2026: Former MLA Sunil Tingre on Monday led an inspection of rain-affected areas across the Vadgaonsheri Assembly constituency to review waterlogging, incomplete stormwater drainage works, and other monsoon-related civic issues. Officials were directed to complete pending works on priority and implement effective measures to prevent flooding during the ongoing monsoon.

The inspection followed concerns raised earlier in a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee meeting regarding recurring waterlogging and delayed drainage projects. Civic officials conducted a field visit to assess the situation and review the progress of ongoing works.

The team inspected several vulnerable locations, including Agrasen School area, Commerzone, Khese Park, Kalwad, Esterlia Society, Elemento Society, Porwal Road, Lohgaon, and Dhanori, where rainwater accumulation and incomplete stormwater drainage works have been causing inconvenience to residents.

The inspection was attended by City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar, Chief Engineer (Projects and Drainage) Gojare, PMC Corporator Suhas Tingre, Haribhakt, and other civic officials. During the visit, detailed discussions were held with officials and contractors, who were instructed to expedite pending works, implement effective drainage measures, and maintain quality standards.

Particular attention was given to Dhanori, where allegedly defective civic works were observed. The concerned contractors were directed to immediately rectify the deficiencies and complete the works in accordance with prescribed technical standards. It was made clear that no compromise on the quality of public works would be tolerated.

The inspection also focused on the recurring waterlogging problem in Parande Nagar on the Vishrantwadi–Dhanori main road. Despite approximately Rs 54 crore being spent under the Storm Water Management project in 2022, the area continues to experience severe flooding during the monsoon. Strong displeasure was expressed over the lack of improvement, and officials were instructed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the project. Directions were also issued to initiate strict administrative action against any officials, contractors, or other persons found responsible for deficiencies or misuse of public funds.

Officials were further instructed to complete all necessary measures without delay to minimise inconvenience to residents during the monsoon.

Tingre said development works across the Vadgaonsheri constituency would continue to be closely monitored and citizens’ grievances would be addressed on priority.
