Pune: Over 400 Saplings Planted at Yewalewadi as Part of 5,100 Devruksha Sankalpana
Pune, 15th July 2026: More than 400 saplings were planted during a tree plantation drive held at Heuton, Yewalewadi, on Sunday as part of the ongoing 5,100 Devruksha Sankalpana, an initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable afforestation.
The drive was organised by The Yuva Team and Love Care Share Foundation (LCS) with support from NSS Trinity, NSS NBN Sinhgad, and several volunteers. More than 70 participants, including students and NSS volunteers, took part in the five-hour drive held from 7 am to 12 pm.
The initiative is based on the 5,100 Devruksha Sankalpana envisioned by Gorakh Bapurao Divekar and implemented by Shri Avadhoot Dattatraya Dham in collaboration with Unity Infra.
According to the organisers, this was the first phase of the plantation campaign, during which over 400 saplings were planted using scientifically recommended plantation techniques. An additional 700 to 750 saplings are scheduled to be planted during the next phase in the coming week.

The organisers highlighted the success of last year’s plantation drive at the same location, where more than 6,500 trees were planted. Owing to regular maintenance, systematic watering, and an efficient irrigation system managed by Shri Avadhoot Dattatraya Dham and Unity Infra, more than 90% of those trees have survived.
The plantation drive was organised to restore green cover, encourage community participation in environmental conservation, and promote sustainable development. Organisers emphasised that the true success of any plantation campaign lies not in the number of saplings planted, but in the number that survive and grow into healthy trees.
They also said the initiative aims to inspire citizens, particularly young people, to actively participate in building a greener and more sustainable future.
