Chakan, 15th July 2026: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) on Monday launched a new bus service connecting Chakan MIDC Phase-II with key industrial and residential hubs, offering relief to thousands of workers who had been struggling with inadequate public transport.

The service was introduced after the Federation of Chakan Industries (FCI) took up the issue with PMPML officials following repeated complaints from industries over the lack of reliable transport for employees. A meeting between FCI representatives and PMPML officials was held on May 6, following which the transport utility conducted a route survey and finalised the service.

According to PMPML officials, six buses have been deployed on a circular route covering Chakan, Alandi Phata, HP Chowk, Air Liquide, GE Company, Shinde Gaon, Vasuli, Varale and Ambethan. The buses will operate at 30-minute intervals.

Industry representatives said the new service is expected to ease the daily commute for thousands of workers, improve employee accessibility and support industrial operations in the Chakan manufacturing belt.

The service was inaugurated at Shinde Gaon in the presence of PMPML divisional manager Rajesh Jadhav, Pimpri Chinchwad depot manager Shailendra Naik, Shinde Gaon sarpanch Sangeeta Kendale, Federation of Chakan Industries CEO Dilip Batwal, FCI director Vinod Jain and representatives from industries in the area.

Speaking at the inauguration, Batwal urged industries, employees and local residents to make maximum use of the service to ensure its long-term sustainability.
