Pune, 17th July 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dedicated the redeveloped Baramati Railway Station to the nation through video conferencing under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar was present at Baramati during the inauguration ceremony.

The station has been redeveloped with upgraded passenger amenities and modern infrastructure as part of Indian Railways’ station redevelopment programme. The transformation includes a redesigned station building, an improved entrance, upgraded circulating area, enhanced parking facilities, renovated waiting areas, modern toilet blocks, platform covers, improved platform surfaces, better lighting, modern signages, upgraded drinking water facilities and barrier-free access for Divyangjan passengers.

The station’s new design incorporates architectural elements reflecting the local character of Baramati while introducing contemporary passenger facilities. Improvements have also been made to the station approach road, compound wall and overall passenger circulation.

Ahead of the inauguration, a series of public engagement activities were organised in Baramati. Students from MES Late Gajananrao Bhivrao Deshpande Vidyalaya, MES Nirmala Haribhau Deshpande Primary School and M.E.S. High Girl School participated in drawing and essay competitions held on July 14. The competitions were conducted in two age groups, covering students from Classes 1 to 5 and Classes 6 to 10.

The drawing competition was organised on the theme “Mere Shehar Ka Viksit Station Bharat Mein Kaisa Hoga”, while the essay competition focused on “Viksit Bharat Banane Ke Liye Main Kya Karunga/Karungi?” More than 2,000 students participated in the competitions, and 36 winners were selected across the three schools.

Baramati Railway Station serves as an important rail link for the region and has been upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to provide improved passenger facilities and accessibility.
