MHADA Reopens Applications for 634 Unsold Flats in Pune’s Tathawade, Relaxes Income Eligibility Norms

Pune, 20th July 2026: The Pune Housing and Area Development Board (MHADA) has reopened applications for 634 unsold residential flats in Tathawade under its housing scheme. The remaining units will be allotted through a computerised lottery, with online registration, application sale and submission commencing on July 20. The application process will remain open until August 25.

In a major move to attract more applicants, MHADA has relaxed the income eligibility criteria for the remaining flats. Earlier, the scheme was limited to specific income categories. Under the revised rules, eligible applicants from all income groups can now apply for the available flats, irrespective of their annual income.

The decision follows a lukewarm response to the first phase of the scheme. In April 2026, MHADA had invited applications for 792 flats located at Survey Nos. 126 and 127/1 in Tathawade. Of these, 24 flats were reserved for the Lower Income Group (LIG), while 768 flats were earmarked for the Middle Income Group (MIG).

However, the response fell short of expectations. MHADA received only 304 applications for the 768 MIG flats. After scrutiny of the applications, the board proceeded with the allotment of 150 flats, leaving 634 units unsold.

To facilitate the allotment of the remaining inventory, MHADA has issued a fresh advertisement and launched the second phase of the scheme. Officials said the relaxation of income eligibility is expected to widen the pool of potential applicants and improve occupancy in the Tathawade housing project.

The online registration, application purchase and submission process began on Monday, July 20, and will continue until August 25. The allotment of flats will be carried out through a transparent computerised lottery in accordance with MHADA’s established procedures.

The launch of the fresh registration process was attended by MHADA Chairman Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil. Other officials present included Pune Board Chief Officer Rahul Sakore, Nodal Officer and Deputy Chief Officer Rahul Shilimkar, Ramchandra Bhosale, Property Manager Rupesh Jaybhaye, and other MHADA officials.
