Free Mega Health Camp in Pune: Sassoon Hospital to Offer Cancer Screening, Eye Check-ups & Surgeries from July 22

Pune, 20th July 2026: B.J. Government Medical College (BJGMC) and Sassoon General Hospital, Pune, have announced a comprehensive, week-long health check-up and special medical camp campaign across Pune district. The mega healthcare initiative, scheduled to run from July 22 to July 28.
The extensive campaign is organized in memory and on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Ajitdada Pawar. Additionally, a mega blood donation camp has been scheduled for July 22, 2026, to mark both the birth anniversary of Ajitdada Pawar and the birthday of Chief Minister Devendraji Fadnavis.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Eknath Pawar, Dean of B.J. Government Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, Pune, shared details of the camp’s scope and locations. “Our primary goal is to ensure that top-quality specialized medical care, diagnostics, and awareness campaigns reach the common public of Pune, especially those living in underserved areas,” Dean Dr Pawar said. “This joint initiative with the state government will provide completely free medical consultations, diagnostics, and surgical screenings at four major hubs across the district.”
Camp Locations and Schedule
Dr Pawar confirmed that the medical camps will begin on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Sassoon General Hospital, Pune. This will be followed by a camp on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Outreach/Urban Health Training Centre located in Mangalwar Peth, Pune.
The third camp is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Savitribai Phule School (Bantar Shala) in Gadital, Hadapsar, Pune. The final health camp in this campaign will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Shirur Municipal Council Mangal Karyalaya, Ghodnadi, Shirur, Pune.
Key Diagnostic and Surgical Camps
According to Dean Dr Pawar, the camps will feature a wide range of specialized services. On the opening day, July 22, a blood donation camp will be held at Sassoon General Hospital. Throughout the campaign, citizens can access specialized screening clinics, which include a dedicated breast cancer screening camp, a cervical cancer screening camp, and a bone mineral density (BMD) check-up camp.
Additionally, the medical teams will conduct eye examination and surgery camps, hernia surgery and obesity screening camps, as well as oral cancer screening clinics across the designated venues.
Special Health Awareness Campaigns
“We are not just limiting this campaign to basic screenings; we are actively addressing a variety of lifestyle and chronic healthcare challenges,” Dr Pawar emphasized. He stated that dedicated awareness and guidance campaigns will run concurrently to educate the public.
These initiatives will focus heavily on obesity control and bariatric surgery, hernia awareness, varicose veins awareness, and oral cancer prevention. Educational drives will also cover thalassemia, Type-1 Diabetes Mellitus, palliative care, and the operations of the Human Milk Bank (Maanav Doodh Bank). Furthermore, health professionals will lead awareness campaigns regarding artificial limbs and rehabilitation, heart disease prevention, and general non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
“We call upon all needy patients, families, and citizens across the Pune district to take full advantage of this extensive healthcare initiative,” Dean Dr Pawar urged.
