Pune: Thousands Protest in Pimpri Against Alleged NEET Paper Leak, Demand Transparent Exams
Pimpri, 23rd July 2026: Thousands of students and activists gathered in Pimpri on Thursday in support of the ongoing student protests in Delhi over the alleged NEET paper leak and irregularities in various competitive examinations. The protest, organised by the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), also condemned the alleged police action against students during the demonstrations in the national capital.
The agitation was held in response to the Maharashtra bandh call given by VBA founder-president Adv. Prakash Ambedkar. Students and party workers assembled in large numbers at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Lokmat (Bhim Srushti) before taking out a rally through various parts of Pimpri.
Following the rally, the protesters staged a sit-in demonstration at Bhim Srushti, demanding greater transparency in the conduct of competitive examinations. They called for a thorough investigation into the alleged paper leaks and examination-related irregularities, strict action against those found responsible, and measures to safeguard the future of students.
Despite continuous rainfall, thousands of students and VBA supporters remained at the protest venue throughout the day. The gathering raised slogans such as “Inquilab Zindabad,” “Azadi Lekar Rahenge,” and “Dharmendra Pradhan Must Resign,” expressing anger over the alleged examination malpractice and demanding accountability.
Several students addressed the gathering, urging the government to take immediate and decisive action against those involved in the alleged irregularities. They said repeated incidents of paper leaks and controversies surrounding competitive examinations had eroded students’ confidence in the system and created uncertainty about their future.
A heavy police deployment was made in and around the protest venue to maintain law and order. The demonstration remained peaceful, with protesters reiterating their demand for a fair, transparent, and credible examination system while urging the government to address students’ concerns without further delay.
