Army’s Southern Command Partners with Symbiosis to Launch Skill and Counselling Hub for Soldiers’ Families in Pune
Pune, 23rd July 2026: In a significant initiative aimed at empowering military families, the Army’s Headquarters Southern Command has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Symbiosis International (Deemed University) to establish the Southern Star Study and Counselling Hub in Pune.
The MoU was signed through the English Language Teaching Institute (ELTI) of Symbiosis. The initiative is designed to strengthen the well-being and resilience of military families by providing educational, counselling, and skill development opportunities for the spouses and children of serving soldiers.
According to Southern Command, the hub will focus on enhancing self-reliance among military spouses by equipping them with practical skills that can improve their employment prospects and open up future career opportunities. It will also help children develop confidence, communication skills, and other essential competencies needed to become future-ready.
An Army officer told Punekar News, “This initiative is for the spouses and children of soldiers in Pune. It will enhance their skills and confidence.”
The Southern Star Study and Counselling Hub is expected to serve as a dedicated platform for learning, personal development, and counselling, reflecting the Army’s continued efforts to support the holistic welfare of soldiers’ families beyond their service commitments.
