Wakad, 4th August 2026: As Maharashtra prepares to welcome the auspicious month of Shravan, Sayaji Hotel Pune is celebrating the state’s rich culinary traditions with ‘Akhaad’, a Maharashtrian food festival being held at Portico from July 31 to August 16.

Inspired by the long-standing tradition of enjoying a lavish family feast before the onset of Shravan, the festival offers diners an opportunity to savour authentic regional cuisine from across Maharashtra. The event highlights the state’s diverse culinary heritage, featuring recipes from regions including Kolhapur, Vidarbha, Konkan, and Western Maharashtra.

The specially curated menu includes popular Maharashtrian delicacies such as Mutton Saoji, Bombil Rawa Fry, Chicken Malvani Tikka, Bombay Chicken Biryani, and the traditional festive sweet Puran Poli.

A key attraction of the festival is the live ‘Ghar Ka Chulha’ counter, where chefs prepare classic homemade favourites including Pithla, Jhunka, and Jowari Chi Bhakar, recreating the authentic flavours of a traditional Maharashtrian kitchen.

The festival aims to offer both residents and visitors an immersive culinary experience, allowing guests to revisit nostalgic flavours or discover Maharashtra’s rich food culture for the first time.
