84 People Turn Up To Buy Ganja, Pune Police Arrest 2 Sellers
Pune, 8th August 2026: Two men allegedly involved in an organised ganja-selling racket after being released on bail were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Squad-2 of the Pune Crime Branch in the Tukai Tekdi area. Ganja and other material worth Rs 73,800 were seized during the operation, police said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Swapnil Dayanand Gandhare (22) and Pratik Balu Gade (22), both residents of Omkar Colony in Tukai Darshan, Hadapsar. A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Fursungi police station.
According to police, the Anti-Narcotics Squad received confidential information that a person out on bail was allegedly operating a network to sell ganja in different parts of Pune with the assistance of several youths.
Acting on the information, police laid a trap in the Tukai Tekdi area and arrested the two accused.
Interestingly, during the operation, 84 people were allegedly found at the spot after arriving to purchase ganja. Police counselled them and handed them over to Fursungi police for further action.
Police are now investigating the accused’s financial transactions, the supply chain through which the ganja was allegedly sourced and the possible involvement of other suspects in the racket. Their criminal records are also being verified.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Tejaswi Satpute, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gauhar Hasan, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shankar Khatke and Senior Police Inspector Jeevan Mane of Anti-Narcotics Squad-2.
Assistant Police Inspectors Afroz Pathan and Nitin Kumar Naik, along with their team, carried out the operation.
