Hinjewadi IT Park Traffic Crisis: Survey Identifies Top 10 Congestion Hotspots
Hinjawadi, 8th August 2026: Traffic congestion in Hinjewadi IT Park continues to trouble thousands of IT professionals, with a recent survey identifying the 10 most congested locations in and around the IT hub.
The survey, conducted under the ‘Unclog Hinjewadi IT Park’ campaign, found that employees are spending hours stuck in traffic during their daily commute. It also highlighted concerns over poor pedestrian infrastructure, road encroachments, narrow roads and limited public transport options.
Laxmi Chowk tops congestion list
According to the survey, Laxmi Chowk has emerged as the most congested location in Hinjewadi, followed by Wipro Circle and Bhumkar Chowk.
The top 10 congestion hotspots identified by IT employees are:

2. Wipro Circle
3. Bhumkar Chowk
4. Wakad Bridge
5. Hinjewadi Bridge
6. Maan Road
7. Phase 1 Circle
8. Infosys Circle
9. Phase 2
10. Marunji
Lack of pedestrian facilities a major concern
The survey was conducted a year after the ‘Unclog Hinjewadi IT Park’ campaign was launched to highlight infrastructure and traffic-related problems in the area.
IT employees were asked about the locations where they face the most congestion as well as the difficulties they encounter during their daily commute.
A majority of respondents identified the lack of safe pedestrian crossing facilities as a major concern. Employees also pointed to road encroachments, absence of footpaths, narrow roads, inadequate parking, signal timings and poor last-mile connectivity.
Private vehicles dominate, PMPML usage negligible
The survey also examined the modes of transport used by IT employees. Private cars emerged as the most commonly used mode, followed by two-wheelers.
Relatively fewer employees reported travelling by cabs and company buses. Some employees also said they prefer cycling for their commute.
However, PMPML bus usage was found to be negligible, highlighting the limited availability or attractiveness of public transport options for employees travelling to and from the IT Park.
Campaign seeks immediate government action
‘Unclog Hinjewadi IT Park’ campaign coordinator Sachin Londhe said that despite a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister last year to address the area’s infrastructure problems, significant work has not been completed over the past year.
“The poor condition of infrastructure in Hinjewadi IT Park continues. Government officials are only delaying the issue. The government must now take immediate steps to improve the situation,” Londhe said.
The survey has once again brought attention to the need for better road infrastructure, pedestrian facilities, traffic management and reliable public transport in Hinjewadi, one of Pune’s most important IT and employment hubs.
