Jalgaon: New ST Bus Stolen From Jamner Depot, Abandoned Near Shahapur After Tyre Puncture

Jalgaon, 10th August 2026: In an unusual incident, an attempt was made to steal a brand-new Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus from the Jamner depot in Jalgaon district. The plan, however, came to a halt after the bus’s front tyre was punctured, following which the vehicle was abandoned near Shahapur village.

According to reports, the new ST bus, registration number MH 19 NE 4214, went missing from the Jamner depot at around 2:30 am on Sunday night. The bus was reportedly taken out of the depot by an unidentified person.

The missing bus triggered a search, following which it was found abandoned near the Khadi river bridge in Shahapur village, in Jamner taluka. Preliminary information suggests that the vehicle’s front tyre was punctured while it was being driven away, forcing the suspected thief to abandon it and flee from the spot.

The abandoned bus was noticed by local residents on Monday morning. The vehicle was subsequently identified as belonging to the Jamner depot.

The incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed at the depot. According to the depot administration, footage is now being examined to identify the person who allegedly took the bus.

Jamner depot manager Dinesh Naik has reportedly lodged a complaint at the Jamner police station against an unidentified person. Police are investigating the incident and examining the available CCTV footage to establish how the bus was taken out of the depot and identify the suspect.

The incident has also brought attention to security arrangements at the Jamner ST depot, with questions being raised over how an entire bus could be taken out of the premises during the night without being stopped.

The investigation is underway, and further details are awaited from the police.
