Pune: Illegal Liquor Worth Rs 61,220 Seized From Surve’s Dhaba; Manager and Owner Arrested
Pashan, 22nd August 2026: Baner Police arrested the manager and owner of Surve’s Dhaba in Pashan after allegedly finding liquor and beer stocked for illegal sale at the establishment. The seized liquor was valued at Rs 61,220, police said.
The action was taken on 18th August while a Baner Police team was patrolling the area as part of its crime-prevention drive and crackdown on illegal businesses. Assistant Police Inspector Balaji Sanap received credible information from a confidential informant that liquor was allegedly being sold illegally at Surve’s Dhaba, located near the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway service road in Sutarwadi, Pashan.
Sanap informed Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant, who instructed the team to verify the information and take legal action. Assistant Police Inspector Balaji Sanap and other police personnel subsequently inspected the establishment and allegedly found a stock of liquor and beer bottles inside.
Police detained the manager at the spot. He was identified as Gopal Shrikrishna Nichal (45), a resident of Bhugaon, Pune.
According to the police, illegal liquor valued at Rs 61,220 was seized from the establishment. Police also arrested the dhaba’s owner, Kunal Sudhakar Gaikwad (39), a resident of Pimple Gurav, Pimpri Chinchwad.
The operation was conducted under the instructions and guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police, East Regional Division, Manoj Patil; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 4, Chilumula Rajnikanth; and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Khadki Division, Brahmadev Gavade.
Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant and Police Inspector (Crime) Vijay Khillare supervised the operation. Assistant Police Inspector Balaji Sanap and police personnel Saurabh Patil and Ganesh Munde carried out the action.
