3D-Printed Artificial Limbs Help 328 Persons With Disabilities Walk Again in Pune

Vishrantwadi, 23rd August 2026: A 3D-printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limb Fitment Camp, developed using Japanese and German technology, was organised at Tirupati Mangal Karyalaya, Tingre Nagar, Pune, jointly by Narayan Seva Sansthan, Udaipur, Tata Tele Business Services, and Newman & Essar Group. A total of 328 persons with disabilities received 361 artificial limbs and calipers free of cost, giving them a renewed sense of mobility, confidence and self-reliance.

The chief guest, Pune District Collector Jitendra Kumar Dudi, said that the initiative was not merely a medical service but a true expression of humanity. Helping a person with a disability walk again and become self-reliant brings a positive transformation not only to the individual but to the entire family.

Presiding over the programme, Rohit Jain, Deputy General Manager, Tata Motors, said that the work of Narayan Seva Sansthan is an outstanding example of humanitarian service. Seeing people who have depended on others for years stand and walk independently is an extremely emotional and inspiring experience.

Devendra Chaubisa, Trustee and Director, Narayan Seva Sansthan, said that the organisation’s objective is not limited to providing artificial limbs. “Our priority is to enable persons with disabilities to stand on their own feet with confidence and dignity. These technologically advanced artificial limbs are bringing mobility as well as a renewed belief in self-reliance into their lives,” he said.

The camp began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and a warm welcome to the guests in accordance with Mewari traditions. A 40-member team of specialists from Narayan Seva Sansthan carried out the fitment of the artificial limbs and calipers. Doctors and technical experts also trained beneficiaries in maintaining balance, walking techniques, proper use of the artificial limbs and their maintenance.

According to Chaubisa, more than 396 persons with disabilities registered at the selection and measurement camp held on July 5. Among the selected 328 beneficiaries, 276 Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs were fitted for 268 beneficiaries, while 85 calipers were fitted for 60 beneficiaries. Thus, a total of 361 artificial limbs and calipers were provided free of cost.

The inspirational parade of beneficiaries after receiving their artificial limbs became one of the most emotional moments of the programme. Several family members were moved to tears of joy as they watched their loved ones walk independently after a long time. For some, it was their first confident step; for others, it was the return of a freedom they had been deprived of for years. Their steps reflected not just mobility, but also dignity, confidence and hope for a new life.

Mahesh Agrawal, Mumbai Branch President of the Sansthan; Patron Satya Bhushan Jain; Vice President, Tata Tele Business Services, Bhika Chaudhary; Karan Agarwal, President, Youth Agrawal Samaj; social worker Dr. Saubhagya Gupta; Suresh Chand Agrawal; Anuj Satpal Garg; Murari Lal Chomal; Deepak Mehta; and Anju Goyal, among several other dignitaries, social workers and members of the community, were present on the occasion.

The camp was supported by Rajendra Singh Panwar, Head of the CSR Department. Camp in-charge Hariprasad Laddha and Ramesh Sharma coordinated the arrangements. Aishwarya Trivedi conducted the programme.

Narayan Seva Sansthan has been working in the field of social service since 1985. The organisation’s founder, Padma Shri Kailash ‘Manav’, has been honoured with the Padma Shri for his significant contribution to the field of service. Sansthan President Prashant Agarwal was honoured with the President’s Award in 2023 for his outstanding contribution to the empowerment of persons with disabilities.

According to the Sansthan, more than 40,000 persons with disabilities have so far received artificial limbs free of cost, while over 4.54 lakh persons have benefited from free medical services across India and abroad.
