Pune based Entrepreneurs Receives Patent

Pune, 25th August 2026: An innovative concept titled “High Rise Retaining Wall and a Method of Construction of the Same,” aimed at controlling earth pressure and enhancing safety in high-rise construction, has been granted a patent by the Government of India’s Patent Office. Mr. Malhar V. Patil and Mrs. Vaishali V. Patil have been registered as the patentees of the invention.This was granted on 21 August 2026 ( Patent No. 600147).

A retaining wall is a structure designed to withstand and control the pressure exerted by soil, earth fill or other materials. Such structures play a critical role in high-rise buildings, sloping sites, deep foundations, basements and a wide range of construction projects.

With rapid urbanisation and the increasing need to construct taller buildings on sites with limited space, maintaining ground stability and ensuring structural safety have become increasingly important challenges for the construction industry.

Against this backdrop, the patent granted for the High Rise Retaining Wall and its construction method is being regarded as a significant development for the infrastructure and construction sector. The patent provides intellectual property protection for the specific design concept and its method of construction.

The patent application was originally filed in 2023 by Mr. Malhar V. Patil and Mrs. Vaishali V. Patil.

Mr. Malhar V. Patil completed his postgraduate studies in Civil Engineering (Geosystems) at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2022, before returning to India to contribute to the family business, Savi Infrastructures & Properties Pvt. Ltd.Savi Infrastructures & Properties specialises in the design and construction of high-rise retaining walls, with projects executed across India and wall heights reaching up to 30 metres. The newly granted patent represents another step in the company’s continued focus on developing practical engineering solutions for challenging infrastructure requirements.

According to the patent certificate, protection for the invention is valid for 20 years from 5 August 2023, subject to the applicable provisions of the Patents Act.With the grant of the patent, the patentees receive the rights provided under patent law in relation to the use of the invention. The patent could therefore play an important role in the future development, application and commercial expansion of the technology in the construction and infrastructure sector.
