Pune: Kalyani Nagar Residents Felicitate Yerawada Police Officials for Action on Noise Pollution

Kalyani Nagar, 24th August 2026: Residents of Kalyani Nagar on Monday felicitated senior police officials of the Yerawada Police Division, acknowledging their efforts to address noise pollution, respond to citizen grievances and strengthen neighbourhood safety.

The felicitation ceremony was held at Yerawada Police Station at around 6:30 pm. The citizen delegation, led by Kalyani Nagar resident Monica Sharma and her team, honoured DCP (Zone 4) Chilumula Rajanikanth (IPS); Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gitte; and Crime Police Inspector Keshav Dinde for their role in maintaining law and order and addressing residents’ concerns.

As a gesture of gratitude and ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, the residents presented framed portraits of Lord Ganesha to the police officials.

The residents also marked the spirit of Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to police personnel present at the police station. The gesture was intended to symbolise the bond of trust, protection and mutual respect between citizens and the police.

Residents highlight action on noise pollution
According to the residents, Kalyani Nagar had been facing persistent complaints related to excessive noise from commercial establishments, late-night disturbances and limited awareness about noise regulations.

They said that under the leadership of DCP Chilumula, Senior PI Gitte, Crime PI Dinde and API Dinesh Patil, the Yerawada Police adopted a more proactive approach towards such complaints, including prompt intervention, awareness initiatives and enforcement of noise regulations.

Residents said the measures have contributed to a reduction in noise-related disturbances in the neighbourhood. They also pointed to increased police patrolling and visibility, along with what they described as improved response to complaints and emergency calls.

Monica Sharma said the police response had helped restore peace in the neighbourhood and improve residents’ confidence in the law enforcement system.

“For many years, continuous noise pollution affected the peace and well-being of residents. The proactive leadership and commitment shown by the Yerawada Police have brought about a remarkable change. They have not only addressed noise pollution effectively but have also strengthened the confidence of citizens by ensuring that every genuine complaint receives prompt attention,” Sharma said.

“Presenting Lord Ganesha’s photo frame is our humble way of expressing gratitude and conveying our best wishes to the officers ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi,” she added.

Kalyani Nagar resident Yasmin Charania also appreciated the efforts of the police personnel in addressing residents’ concerns.

“We, the residents of Kalyani Nagar, deeply appreciate the dedication of all police personnel in restoring peace to our community. The trust and collaborative partnership forged between the residents and the police have significantly reduced noise pollution while enhancing local safety and security,” Charania said.

She added that tying rakhis to police personnel was a way of expressing gratitude for their service and recognising their role in protecting citizens.

The police officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, promoting peaceful neighbourhoods and continuing engagement with residents.
