India Post Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Competition 2026: Entries Open Till 31st October 2026
Pune, 26th August 2026: The Department of Posts has opened entries for the 2026-27 edition of its national-level ‘Dhai Akhar’ Letter Writing Competition, with participants being asked to write handwritten letters on the theme, “A Letter to Mother Earth: My Promise to Protect Nature.”
The competition began on 1st August and will remain open until 31st October 2026. It is open to Indian citizens across two age groups, those up to 18 years and those above 18 years. Participants can enter under either the Inland Letter Card (ILC) or Envelope category.
Letters can be written in English, Hindi or any vernacular language. Entries submitted under the Envelope category must be limited to 1,000 words and written on plain A4-size paper, while Inland Letter Card entries cannot exceed 500 words.
According to the Department of Posts, entries for the Maharashtra Circle, which covers Maharashtra and Goa, must be addressed to the Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, Mumbai-400001. The envelope or Inland Letter Card must carry the superscription “DHAI AKHAR Letter 2026.”
Participants are also required to include a declaration confirming whether they are below or above 18 years of age as of 1st January 2026.
The competition has prizes at both the Circle and national levels. At the Maharashtra Circle level, winners in each category will receive ₹25,000 for first place, ₹10,000 for second place and ₹5,000 for third place. National-level winners will receive ₹50,000, ₹25,000 and ₹10,000, respectively, in each category.
Entries posted after 31st October will not be considered. The Department of Posts has advised participants to check the detailed guidelines and eligibility requirements on India Post’s official website or contact their nearest post office.
