Pune: PMC Orders Urgent Road Repairs Ahead of Ganeshotsav
Pune, 28th August 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has stepped up preparations to make city roads pothole-free ahead of Ganeshotsav, with officials directed to expedite road repair and maintenance works across the city.
A review meeting of all administrative zones and regional offices was held under the chairmanship of Additional Municipal Commissioner Omprakash Divate to assess the condition of roads and preparations for the festival.
With a large number of citizens and Ganesh devotees expected to travel across the city during Ganeshotsav, the civic body has directed its road department to expedite various works to ensure that major roads remain safe and in good condition.
The works include filling potholes, repairing chambers and footpaths, reinstatement of roads after utility-related work and carrying out other necessary repairs.
All regional offices have been instructed to immediately complete surveys of roads measuring 12 metres and 18 metres in width and take necessary action to address potholes and other road-related deficiencies identified during the inspections.
Officials have been directed to accord priority to these works so that safe and smooth traffic movement can be ensured for citizens during the Ganeshotsav period.
Deputy commissioners of all administrative zones and assistant commissioners of regional offices have also been asked to inspect roads in their respective jurisdictions and take necessary measures to ensure a pothole-free Ganeshotsav.
Chief Engineer (Roads) Rajesh Bankar, deputy commissioners Vijaykumar Thorat, Arvind Mali and Asha Raut, along with assistant commissioners, officials and staff from various regional offices, attended the review meeting.
