Rishika Nandi Upsets Third Seed Disha Santosh to Enter Pune Mayors Trophy Semifinals

PUNE, August 28, 2026: Unseeded Rishika Nandi produced an upset by defeating third seed Disha Santosh 21-16, 21-18 to enter the girls’ singles semifinals at the Pune Mayors Trophy Yonex Sunrise India Junior International Grand Prix Badminton Tournament.

The tournament, being held in memory of late Sushant Chipalkatti, is organised by the Poona District Metropolitan Badminton Association (PDMBA) under the auspices of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Badminton Association of India (BAI) and Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA). The matches are being played at the P. E. Society’s Modern PDMBA Sports Complex, Shivajinagar.

Thailand’s Pattanun Thiannaparpornchok, India’s Gatha Suryawanshi and second seed Ishita Negi also advanced to the last-four stage in the girls’ singles event.

In the boys’ singles quarterfinals, top seed Dev Ruparelia, second seed Jagsher Singh Khangurra, seventh seed Pranav Manjunath and 16th seed Nishchal Chand secured contrasting victories to book their places in the semifinals.
