Pune: 26-Year-Old Two-Wheeler Rider Dies After Truck Runs Over Him Near Khadi Machine Chowk

Kondhwa, 29th August 2026: A 26-year-old man was killed after a truck allegedly collided with his two-wheeler near Khadi Machine Chowk in the Undri-Kondhwa area on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Rohit Shrimant Shinde (26), a resident of Kakade Vasti in Kondhwa.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Yewalewadi Police Station, the accident occurred at around 10.50 pm on August 28 on Pisoli Road, near Tiny Industrial Co-Op Estate and Kondhwa Karyalaya.

Rohit was reportedly travelling towards Khadi Machine Chowk on his two-wheeler, bearing registration number MH 12 UE 7339, while returning home.

According to the complaint filed by Rohit’s brother, Prashant Shrimant Shinde, the truck, bearing registration number KA 22 D 6441, was allegedly being driven by Suraj Golave (35), a resident of Kunjirwadi, at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner.

The FIR alleges that the driver disregarded traffic rules and drove in a manner that endangered human life before colliding with Rohit’s two-wheeler.

Following the collision, Rohit reportedly fell onto the road, after which the truck’s front wheel allegedly ran over his head. He sustained fatal injuries and died in the accident.

The truck driver allegedly fled the spot without providing assistance to the injured rider or informing the authorities, according to the complaint.

Based on the complaint, Yewalewadi Police registered FIR No. 0155/2026 against the accused driver under Sections 106(1), 125(b), 281 and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with Sections 119(1), 177, 134(A), 134(B) and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Police have also initiated the process to add Section 106(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, to the case.

According to official correspondence regarding the sections applied in Crime No. 155/2026, Section 106(2) was reportedly not available or displayed in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) at the time the offence was registered.

The matter was subsequently taken up with the concerned department. Police are also submitting a letter to the competent court seeking the addition of Section 106(2) of the BNS, 2023, to the sections invoked in the case.

Further investigation into the fatal road accident is underway.
