‘Opposition Born to Win TRP battle, BJP Workers for Hindutva’: Ravindra Chavan in Pune

Pune, 31st August 2026: Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan on Monday took a swipe at opposition parties, saying they were “born to win the TRP battle”, while BJP workers were committed to Hindutva and the goal of making India a developed nation.

Chavan was speaking after inaugurating the Maharashtra BJP state executive meeting in Pune. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union minister of state Murlidhar Mohol, higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil, water resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Girish Mahajan, cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar, Pankaja Munde, Jaykumar Gore, Nitesh Rane and minister of state Madhuri Misal, among other party leaders and city BJP office-bearers, were present.

Chavan said several organisational initiatives were being undertaken to keep BJP workers active. Over the coming year, party workers would reach out to citizens through various programmes based on the BJP’s ideology and spread awareness about government schemes and initiatives.

“For this, it is necessary for party workers to remain active,” Chavan said.

He also called upon BJP workers to work at the booth level to make Maharashtra free of drugs. Workers, he said, should ensure that information about people involved in the sale of narcotic substances reaches the government.

Chavan further said strict action should be taken against such individuals, including their arrest under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), wherever applicable.

“The organisation should work towards creating a drug-free Maharashtra and ensuring the safety of the younger generation,” he said.

Chavan also urged party workers to focus on resolving issues faced by society instead of merely attacking opposition parties. He called for the anti-drug campaign to be expanded across the state, with booth-level workers playing an active role in protecting young people.

He also alleged that attempts were being made through digital platforms in cities to spread a “fake narrative” against the BJP.

The BJP state president’s remarks came amid preparations by the party to strengthen its organisational network and outreach programmes across Maharashtra.
