Pune Drug Bust: Kondhwa Police Seize Hydroponic Cannabis, Mephedrone Worth Rs 8.13 Lakh

Kondhwa, 31st August 2026: Kondhwa police registered two cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and seized hydroponic cannabis, mephedrone (MD), cash, vehicles and other articles collectively valued at ₹8.13 lakh.
In the first operation, a police team patrolling the Kondhwa area received information about a suspected drug transaction near L.K. Apartments on a public road in Ajmera Park, Kondhwa Khurd. Police intercepted Aamir Akbar Sheikh, 36, a resident of L.K. Apartments, and allegedly recovered 143 grams of hydroponic cannabis valued at ₹5,21,500.
Police also seized ₹3,300 in cash, a Honda two-wheeler valued at ₹25,000, two electronic weighing scales and transparent plastic pouches. The total value of the property seized in this operation was ₹5,49,800. A case was registered against Sheikh under the NDPS Act at Kondhwa police station.
In the second operation, conducted on August 28, police received information that mephedrone was being stored in Room No. 405 of the Paradise Inn Lodge in Kondhwa. Acting on the tip-off received by Police Constable Keshav Hirve, a team raided the room and detained Azim Salim Sheikh, 37, a resident of Kashiwadi in Pune’s Bhawani Peth area.
During the search, police allegedly recovered 12.010 grams of mephedrone valued at ₹2,42,600, ₹5,500 in cash, two mobile phones valued at ₹16,000 and 15 injection syringes. The total seizure in the second case was valued at ₹2,64,000. A separate NDPS Act case was registered against the accused.
“Kondhwa police have intensified action against the illegal sale, possession and consumption of narcotic substances. Strict legal action will be taken against those found involved in such activities,” Senior Police Inspector Santosh Khetmalas said.
Inspector Khetmalas appealed to residents to immediately contact Kondhwa police if they receive information about drug sales in their neighbourhood. “The identity of citizens providing information about narcotics will be kept confidential,” he added.
The operations were carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Region Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, Rajlaxmi Shivankar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wanawadi Division, Ramdas Ingle, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Khetmalas, Police Inspector (Crime) Prashant Mandale and Police Inspector (Crime) Santosh Chaudhary.
The investigating team comprised Assistant Police Inspector Mahendra Doke, Police Sub-Inspectors Ravindra Gawade and Sagar Pawar, and police personnel Amol Hirve, Ravindra Chippa, Keshav Hirve, Karakhile, Amit Suryavanshi, Rashid Sheikh, Rahul Rasane, Riyaz Patel, Pushpendra Chavan, Prashant Khade, Shahid Rajput, Omkar Shote and Ravi Jadhav.
