National hockey player Ikram Khan conferred Major Dhyan Chand Sports Award 2026
Pune, 3rd September 2026: National-level hockey player and multi-sport achiever Ikram Khan was conferred the Major Dhyan Chand Sports Award 2026 at a ceremony held at Sadhu Vaswani International School, Moshi, on Thursday.
The award was presented by the Rising Sports Foundation, in association with Sadhu Vaswani International School, in recognition of Khan’s achievements, leadership and contribution to sport.
Khan has represented Maharashtra in hockey and captained the state team at both the junior and senior national championships. He has also represented his university in hockey and competed at the state level in athletics, including the javelin throw.
His sporting achievements extend beyond hockey. Khan was part of the team that won the Aga Khan Cup golf tournament in Dhaka in 2023. He is also the president of the Maharashtra Hockey Association and has been involved in promoting and developing the sport.
Khan’s sporting career spans multiple disciplines, with competitive hockey at the national level, leadership of the state team at junior and senior levels, state-level athletics and achievements in golf. His contribution also extends to sports administration and the promotion of hockey.
The Rising Sports Foundation had informed Khan in its August 28 communication that its jury had selected him for the award following scrutiny of his nomination and recommendations by jury members. The award was formally conferred on Thursday.
The ceremony at Sadhu Vaswani International School was attended by students, faculty members and sports personalities.
