Pune: Corporator Aishwarya Pathare Issues Final Warning Over Neglected Nagar Road Subway

Viman Nagar, 7th September 2026: Ward 3 Corporator Aishwarya Surendra Pathare has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the continued poor condition of the pedestrian subway on Nagar Road in Viman Nagar, accusing civic officials of failing to act despite repeated follow-ups.

In a strongly worded social media post, Pathare said she had inspected the subway during the first week after being elected and had repeatedly raised the issue with civic officials.

“Date after date…! In the very first week after being elected, I inspected the subway on Nagar Road. Budget provision was made for repairs and CCTV, and a meeting was held with the ward office. In both Prabhag Samiti meetings, I repeatedly told the officers to ‘repair the subway’. Assurances were given… but the situation remains the same even today!” she wrote.

Pathare, along with three other local representatives, issued what she described as a final warning to the civic administration, demanding that the shutters of the subway be removed and the passage cleaned.

“We four corporators are giving you a final warning — remove the shutters of the subway and keep the path clean. Do not wait for some untoward incident to occur,” she said.

Pathare also highlighted that the corporators had personally arranged for the subway to be cleaned on one occasion.

“We stood there ourselves and got the path cleaned… but can the ward office not carry out daily maintenance?” she asked. She added that the subway should be made fully operational before any beautification or adoption plans are considered.

“This subway must start functioning at full capacity. Later we can also undertake its beautification and adoption. But first, at least do the basic cleaning and repairing!” Pathare said.

Concluding her post, the corporator demanded concrete action from the civic administration instead of further assurances.

“Now no more assurances — action is needed,” she said.

The Late Ravindra Galande Patil Subway on Nagar Road has reportedly remained underutilised due to issues related to cleanliness, lighting and maintenance. The condition has raised concerns as pedestrians may be forced to cross the busy Nagar Road instead of using the subway.

Pathare had inspected the facility in February 2026, shortly after assuming office, and had urged civic officials to prioritise its repairs.
