Pune: Rs 5 crore Mayor’s residence planned in Nigdi as PCMC clears proposal
Pimpri Chinchwad, 7th September 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved a proposal to construct an official residence for the Mayor in Nigdi at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore. The proposal was cleared during the general body meeting, with the required provision made in the revised budget for 2026-27 under the local body development head.
Land for the proposed residence has been reserved in the Nigdi Pradhikaran area. A notice regarding the construction has been issued in Sector 27, and the civic administration is now working on the planning and other formalities for the project.
The general body also approved a proposal to introduce a metering system for treated water supplied through the civic water network for construction activities in housing societies. At present, only around 30 per cent of the water treated at sewage treatment plants (STPs) is being reused, while the remaining treated water is discharged into rivers. The civic body said the move was aimed at increasing the reuse of treated water and reducing pollution caused by its discharge into water bodies.
The meeting also approved financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of those who died in the accident at the Moshi garbage depot. The civic body has also decided to increase financial assistance to other affected citizens under the relevant provision.
