Pune: Chandani Chowk-Hinjewadi Metro Corridor DPR to Be Prepared, Murlidhar Mohol Directs Officials
Pune, 9th September 2026: The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Chandani Chowk-Ghotawade Phata-Pirangut-Hinjewadi Metro corridor will be prepared to take the long-pending connectivity proposal forward, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol said on Wednesday.
The direction was issued during a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) held at the Pune District Collector’s Office. The meeting, chaired by Mohol, reviewed the progress of various Central government-sponsored schemes and infrastructure projects in Pune district.
NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule participated in the meeting through video conferencing and supported the proposal for the Chandani Chowk–Hinjewadi Metro corridor, stating that the route was necessary for the region.
During the meeting, Mohol directed officials to expedite pending proposals related to the second phase of Pune Metro. He sought the necessary financial consent from the Pune Municipal Corporation for the Vanaz–Chandani Chowk elevated corridor and directed officials to obtain the required approvals for the Ramwadi–Wagholi corridor.
Officials were also instructed to complete the DPR for the proposed Lohegaon Airport Metro connectivity within the stipulated timeline.
Mohol further directed authorities to complete the widening of the road leading towards Pune Airport at the earliest. He also expressed satisfaction over the rise in Pune Metro’s daily passenger numbers.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, BharatNet, Jal Jeevan Mission, Swamitva Scheme and PM SVANidhi, among other Central government schemes.
Under PMAY-Urban 2.0, scrutiny of applications received by the Pune Municipal Corporation has been completed, with 3,227 applications found eligible. Officials were directed to expedite land acquisition and transfer processes related to around 6,800 houses proposed at Mamurdi, Punawale, Wadmukhwadi, Tathawade and Chovisawadi.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 1,239 schemes have been undertaken in the district, while 39,255 tap connections remain pending. Mohol directed officials to complete the remaining connections and incomplete water supply schemes by March 2027.
The meeting also reviewed BharatNet connectivity, with officials instructed to prepare a time-bound, year-wise and taluka-wise plan to connect around 1,400 gram panchayats in the district.
Regarding the Purandar Airport, District Collector Jitendra Dudi informed the meeting that around 70 per cent of the required land acquisition has been completed and that the remaining process would be expedited.
Issues related to pollution control measures for the Indrayani and Pavana rivers, projects being undertaken by the Airports Authority of India and the National Highways Authority of India, micro-irrigation, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Smart City projects and groundwater surveys were also reviewed during the meeting.
Mohol directed officials to set clear targets and deadlines for pending works and ensure their timely completion.
