Pune Traffic Police Launch Road Safety Awareness Drive Under ‘Safe Pune Road Movement’
Pune, 14th September 2026: The Pune City Traffic Branch organised road safety and traffic awareness programmes at multiple locations across the city on September 12 as part of its ‘Safe Pune Road Movement’ initiative.
The awareness campaign was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Nanded City and Yerawada Traffic Divisions, focusing on school students, motorists and local residents.
In the Nanded City Traffic Division, awareness sessions were held at Yashwant Vidyalaya of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha at Khadakwasla (R.S.), Nanded City Public School, Vidya Pratishthan Pawar School in Nanded City, and Khadakwasla Primary Schools No. 1 and 2. The sessions were conducted under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector (API) Sachin Patil.
The programmes focused on educating students about road safety, traffic rules and responsible road use.
Separately, under the guidance of API Nandanwar, a road safety and traffic awareness programme was conducted at Sathe Biscuit Chowk in Vishrantwadi for school students and local residents.
During the programmes, traffic officials highlighted that pedestrians and two-wheeler riders account for a significant proportion of fatalities in road accidents in Pune city. Citizens were urged to strictly follow traffic rules to help reduce road crashes and fatalities.
The Traffic Branch appealed to citizens to follow basic road safety measures, including:
Wear a helmet while riding a two-wheeler.
Use pedestrian paths and zebra crossings while crossing roads.
Follow traffic signals and road rules strictly.
Avoid speeding.
Do not use mobile phones while driving or riding.
Assist accident victims promptly and take steps to ensure they receive immediate medical help.
The Pune City Traffic Branch urged citizens to participate in the ‘Safe Pune Road Movement’ and contribute towards safer roads, safer travel and a reduction in road accidents across the city.
“Follow traffic rules — protect your own life and the lives of others,” the Traffic Branch appealed.
