Nashik, 14 September 2026: Central Railway carried out major track improvement works at Kherwadi Yard on Sunday as part of preparations for the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh-2027.

The work was undertaken during a combined Up and Down line block from 1:10 pm to 3:40 pm on September 13, with the railway working on track infrastructure to support train operations during the upcoming religious event.

During the block, the existing crossover at the CSMT end was dismantled using multiple track machines and skilled personnel. At the same time, Thick Web Switch (TWS) insertion and crossing insertion were carried out at the Bhusawal end of the yard.

Engineering and operating teams coordinated the work during the block to complete the activities and restore train operations within the scheduled period.

The works form part of Central Railway’s planned infrastructure strengthening programme for Kumbh-2027, when Nashik and Trimbakeshwar are expected to witness a significant increase in passenger movement.

The railway is undertaking track and infrastructure improvements to increase operational capacity and facilitate train movement during the event.
