Pune: Thousands of Litres of Drinking Water Wasted From Leaking Tank in Hadapsar; Shiv Sena Demands Immediate Repair

Hadapsar, 15th September 2026: Thousands of litres of drinking water are reportedly being wasted from a large water tank in Hadapsar’s 15 Number area, near the Ganganagar-Gangadham crematorium and Bankar School. The continuous leakage has raised concerns among local residents, who have questioned the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) response.
The incident comes at a time when residents in several parts of Hadapsar continue to face difficulties with drinking water supply. Residents have alleged that despite the large-scale wastage, the civic administration has failed to take immediate action to repair the tank.
Shiv Sena Pune City President Pramod (Nana) Bhangire criticised the PMC and demanded immediate intervention.
“On one hand, Hadapsar residents are struggling for drinking water, while on the other, thousands of litres of water are being wasted from a municipal water tank. The PMC should immediately inspect and repair the leakage. If the continuous leakage affects the tank’s structure and an accident occurs, who will take responsibility?” said Bhangire.
Residents also expressed concern over the prolonged wastage of water.
“We have to struggle for drinking water, and seeing such a huge quantity of water being wasted is extremely frustrating. The PMC should have acted immediately after the leakage was noticed,” said a local resident.
Another resident said the issue could become a safety concern if left unattended.
“The authorities should not wait for an accident to happen. If water continues to seep from such a large tank, its structural condition needs to be checked. The PMC should repair it immediately and prevent further wastage,” said another resident.
Residents have urged the PMC’s water supply department to inspect the tank, identify the cause of the leakage and undertake immediate repairs. They have also demanded regular maintenance of civic water infrastructure to prevent similar incidents in the future.
