Pune: PMPML Plans 799 Additional Buses for Ganeshotsav; Night Services to Run Till 2 am
Pune, 16th September 2026: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has planned 799 additional buses during the Ganeshotsav period to cater to the expected increase in passenger traffic as citizens visit Ganpati mandals and illuminated decorations across Pune.
The additional bus services will be operated in two phases between September 17 and 25, based on passenger demand.
In the first phase, 173 additional buses will be deployed on September 17, 18 and 24. In the second phase, 626 additional buses will be operated from September 19 to 23 and on September 25, depending on passenger demand.
The additional trips, over and above regular scheduled services, will operate as ‘Yatra Special’ buses during the festival period.
Night bus services till 2 am
PMPML said special night services will operate from designated bus stations to various destinations depending on passenger demand. These services will continue up to 2 am.
Passengers travelling on the additional night trips will be charged the regular prevailing ticket fares.
Pass holders will be allowed to avail the pass concession on the special night services until midnight (12 am). After midnight, no type of pass will be accepted, according to PMPML.
Additional buses from key locations
From Swargate Bus Station, additional services will be operated towards Katraj, Dhankawadi, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Narhe, Ambegaon, Jambhulwadi, Upper Indiranagar, Market Yard, Sangvi and Alandi, depending on passenger demand.
From Natraj Hotel/Sinhagad Road, buses will operate towards Vadgaon and Dhayari, with services towards Sinhagad and Khanapur being operated as required.
From Swargate Depot Bus Station, additional buses will operate towards Hadapsar and Yewalewadi/Kondhwa Hospital. From Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, services will be available towards Kondhwa Khurd, Kondhwa Budruk and Salunke Vihar.
From Hadapsar Gadital Bus Station, additional buses will connect passengers to Swargate, Pune Station, PMC Bhavan, Saswad, Jejuri, Uruli Kanchan, Varvand, Manjari, Theur, Fursungi and Devachi Uruli.
Additional services from Moledina Hall/Sassoon Road Bus Station will operate towards Vishrantwadi, Lohegaon, Wagholi, Viman Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri and Alandi.
From Dengle Bridge Bus Station, buses will
operate towards Lohegaon, Vadgaon Sheri, Mundhwa/Keshav Nagar, Shubham Society, Anand Park, Kharadi, Talegaon Dhamdhere and Hadapsar.
From the PMC Bhavan Main Bus Station and Petrol Pump, additional services will connect passengers to Bhosari, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Dehu Alandi, Dehugaon, Vishrantwadi, Pashan, Sutarwadi, Balewadi, Mhalunge, Talegaon Dabhade, Sangvi, Pimple Gurav, Mukai Chowk/Kiwale, Hinjawadi and Akurdi Railway Station.
From Congress Bhavan Bus Station, additional services will be available towards Karvenagar, Malwadi, NDA Gate No. 10 and Kothrud Depot.
The Deccan Gymkhana/Sambhaji Bridge Corner will also have additional buses towards Karvenagar, Malwadi, NDA Gate No. 10, Gokhalenagar and Kothrud Depot.
Services may be diverted due to traffic restrictions
PMPML said that during Ganeshotsav, roads in central Pune are likely to be closed or restricted by the police administration during evening hours due to large crowds and processions.
As a result, bus services in the central parts of the city will be operated through alternative routes, depending on the traffic restrictions in force.
The transport undertaking said the additional services have been planned to facilitate the movement of citizens visiting Ganeshotsav attractions and to address increased passenger demand during the festival.
