Pune Drug Bust: MBBS Doctor From Kashmir Among 5 Arrested in Rs 8.5 Lakh MD Case

Kondhwa, 18th September 2026: Kondhwa police arrested five people in connection with the alleged possession and sale of mephedrone, commonly known as MD, and seized drugs and other property collectively valued at approximately ₹8.5 lakh, according to an official police release.
The operation began at around 7 pm on September 17, after Police Constables Shahid Rajput and Prashant Khade received information about a suspected drug transaction near the Green Lisbon Hotel in Kondhwa Khurd. Acting on the information, the police team laid a trap in the area and detained the first suspect. Police allegedly recovered mephedrone and injection syringes from his possession.
Police identified the arrested accused as Jahangir Singh Pardeshi, 19, a scrap dealer residing in Kondhwa; Jalaluddin Khan, 38, a wireman residing in Shivneri Nagar, Kondhwa; and Faizan, 48, a businessman residing in Meetha Nagar, Kondhwa.
The fourth accused was identified as Mohammad Sheikh, 27, an MBBS doctor residing at Eleven Park Street Society in Pisoli. Police said that Sheikh is originally from Kashmir.
During the course of the investigation, police conducted a follow-up operation on September 18 and arrested the fifth accused, identified as Mohammad Wasim Mansuri. Police allegedly recovered 5 grams of mephedrone worth ₹11,000 from his possession.
With the subsequent seizure of 5 grams, the total quantity of mephedrone seized during the operation stood at 108.51 grams. Based on the figures provided by police, the seizure from the initial operation accounted for approximately 103.51 grams, followed by the additional 5 grams recovered from Mansuri.
Police also said that Shadab Sheikh, a resident of the Camp area near Asha Hotel, is wanted in connection with the case. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him.
According to DCP (Zone 5) Rajlaxmi Shivankar, police seized 108.51 grams of mephedrone, ₹3,150 in cash, five mobile phones, injection syringes, a laptop and a tablet during the entire operation. The drugs and other seized property were collectively valued at approximately ₹8.5 lakh, police said.
The recovery of electronic devices, cash and other material is also being examined as part of the investigation into the alleged drug possession and sale network.
Senior Police Inspector Santosh Khetmalas said that a case has been registered at Kondhwa Police Station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). Police Sub-Inspector Sagar Pawar is conducting further investigation.
Police are now investigating the alleged source of the mephedrone, the role of each of the arrested accused, and the connection of the wanted accused with the case. The investigation is also expected to establish whether the accused were allegedly involved in possession, distribution or sale of the contraband.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, DCP Rajlaxmi Shivankar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramdas Ingwale, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Khetmalas, Police Inspector Santosh Choudhari and Police Inspector (Crime) Prashant Mandale.
The police team included Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gaikwad, PSI Sagar Pawar, ASI Sharad Wakase, and police personnel Ashok Vinchu, Amol Hirve, Karandale, Rashid Sheikh, Purvesh Chavan, Santosh Bansode, Rahul Rasmo, Prashant Khade, Keshav Hirve, Shahid Rajput, Amit Saiyad Sheikh, Pravin Patil, Rajat Shukla, Shelar and Omkar Shete.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify other possible links in the alleged drug network and trace the wanted accused.
