Rs 4 Lakh to Evict Tenant, But Flat Still Occupied: Asif Dadhi Among 3 Booked in Pune

Pune, 22nd September 2026: Kondhwa police have registered a case against three men, including Asif Dadhi alias Asif Iqbal Sheikh of Pimpri, for allegedly cheating a 39-year-old woman of ₹4 lakh after promising to use their purported police connections to get a tenant evicted from her flat. Dadhi is a criminal on police record.

The case was registered on September 8, 2026, based on a complaint from a woman from Kondhwa. The other accused have been identified as Asif Sayyed, a resident of Pune Camp, and Habib Sayyed, a resident of Kondhwa.

The allegations are detailed in the woman’s statement recorded in the FIR at Kondhwa Police Station. No arrest has been mentioned in the FIR.
Dispute over rented flat
According to the FIR, the woman owns a second flat in Brahma Angan Society on Salunke Vihar Road in Kondhwa. The flat had allegedly been rented to a tenant for around 10 years.

The rental agreement had expired about two years earlier, and the woman had allegedly repeatedly asked the tenant to vacate the property. She also claimed that two legal notices had been issued, but the tenant did not hand over possession of the flat.

During this period, in August 2025, she was allegedly introduced to Asif Sayyed. After she explained the dispute, he allegedly introduced her to Asif Iqbal Sheikh and Habib Sayyed.

Men allegedly claimed police connections
The three men allegedly claimed that they had contacts with senior police officers and could get the flat vacated quickly. According to the FIR, they initially demanded ₹8 lakh for the work.

When the woman said she could not afford the amount, the demand was allegedly reduced to ₹4 lakh, which she agreed to pay.

The FIR states that on August 28, 2025, she contacted Asif Iqbal Sheikh through WhatsApp and asked whether ₹2.5 lakh could be paid in cash and the remaining ₹1.5 lakh transferred to a bank account.

She was allegedly told to make the payment in the manner previously agreed upon, which she understood to mean that the entire amount had to be paid in cash.

₹4 lakh allegedly handed over at residence
According to the complaint, the three accused visited the woman’s residence at around 3 pm on August 29, 2025. Her daughter was reportedly present at the time.

She alleged that she handed over ₹4 lakh in cash to Asif Iqbal Sheikh in the presence of the other two men. They allegedly assured her that the tenant would be removed and possession of the flat would be handed back within two days.

However, the promised work was not completed, according to the FIR.
The woman subsequently contacted the accused several times and allegedly asked them either to get the flat vacated or return her money. They allegedly gave different explanations and continued delaying the matter, but neither returned the ₹4 lakh nor secured possession of the flat.

She eventually approached Kondhwa police, alleging that the three men had gained her trust through false assurances and dishonestly accepted the money.

Case registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Kondhwa police registered the case under Sections 318(4), 316(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The alleged offence period has been recorded as August 29, 2025, to September 8, 2026.

Police Sub-Inspector Pankaj Vilas Khopade has been assigned the investigation.
