Pune: Seven Mandals Booked As DJ Noise Breaches Prescribed Limits During 7th Day Visarjan
Pimpri Chinchwad, 23rd September 2026: Loud DJ music during Ganesh immersion processions on the seventh day of the festival has landed seven Ganesh mandals in trouble, with Shirgaon-Parandwadi and Talegaon Dabhade police registering cases for alleged violations of noise pollution norms and police directives.
Shirgaon police registered cases against two mandals and seized eight sound-system speakers, two DJ mixers, two amplifiers and a vehicle. The action followed noise readings above the permitted limits during the immersion processions of Jai Maharashtra Mitra Mandal in Chandkhed and Shivtej Mitra Mandal in Ojharwadi on September 20.
Police said mandal office-bearers and DJ operators had been briefed before Ganeshotsav about adhering to prescribed noise limits. Despite this, the two mandals allegedly used sound systems at excessive volumes.
Talegaon Dabhade police also booked five mandals — Murlidhar Mitra Mandal, Ambika Pratishthan Mitra Mandal, Friends Club Mitra Mandal, Amar Hind Mitra Mandal and Swarajya Mitra Mandal — for alleged noise violations during their immersion processions.
Police records showed noise levels of 101.1, 104.1, 101.7 and 102.3 decibels in four of the cases. The reading for the fifth mandal was not available in the details provided.
Cases were registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Maharashtra Police Act.
