Pune: ‘Made in Pakistan’ Beauty Creams Seized From Pimpri Shop; Seller Booked
Pimpri Chinchwad, 24th September 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad police’s Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATB) on Wednesday seized 23 counterfeit packs of ‘Beauty Cream’, labelled ‘Made in Pakistan’, from a cosmetics shop in Pimpri. The sale of such products is prohibited in India.
The seized creams, worth Rs 12,650, were recovered from Shakti Cosmetics near the PMPML bus stop on River Road in Pimpri. A case has been registered against the shopkeeper at Pimpri police station.
The accused has been identified as Prakash Manoharlal Guru, 39, a resident of Gaillard Chowk, Pimpri.
According to police, the ATB received information that counterfeit Beauty Cream carrying the ‘Made in Pakistan’ label was being sold at the shop. Acting on the information, an ATB team, with assistance from Pimpri police, conducted a raid at the premises.
During the inspection, officials found 23 cream packs priced at Rs 550 each, with a total value of Rs 12,650. The products were seized and a case was subsequently registered at Pimpri police station. Police sub-inspector Abhijit Kene is investigating the case.
Deputy commissioner of police Dheeraj Patil of the Pimpri-Chinchwad special branch confirmed the action.
The police said the Union ministry of commerce and industry, through a notification issued on May 2, 2025, prohibited the import of all types of goods from Pakistan into India.
Police have appealed to citizens to inform the Pimpri Chinchwad Anti-Terrorism Branch if they come across products bearing a ‘Made in Pakistan’ label being sold within the commissionerate limits.
