Ex-Army Officer Khushboo Patani Urges Women to Learn Air Pistol Use for Self-Defence After Jamui Case
Reported by Shoaib Tadvi
New Delhi, 28th September 2026: Former Indian Army officer and actor Disha Patani’s sister Khushboo Patani has urged women to consider learning how to use an air pistol for self-defence following the recent alleged harassment and assault of two Class 10 students in Bihar’s Jamui district.
Khushboo shared a video on Instagram in which she demonstrated how an air pistol works and explained that it uses CO2 to propel a pellet instead of gunpowder or conventional ammunition. She encouraged women interested in learning self-defence to undergo proper training at a shooting range.
“Learn to shoot a pistol at a local shooting range,” Khushboo said in the video, while stressing that an air pistol should be handled responsibly and only for self-defence.
She also advised potential users to consider the weight, range and calibre of an air pistol before purchasing one. Khushboo said users should select a model they can handle properly and learn how to operate it safely.
In the caption accompanying her video, she warned that an air pistol is not a toy and stressed responsible use. She also advised people to approach local dealers rather than purchasing such products online.
Khushboo further said that such equipment should only be used in an extreme “do or die situation” and emphasised the importance of proper training.
Khushboo Reacts To Jamui Case
Khushboo’s latest video comes days after she reacted strongly to the alleged assault and harassment of two Class 10 students in Bihar’s Jamui district.
According to reports, the incident occurred on September 19 when the teenage boy and girl were allegedly stopped and harassed by a group while returning from a local scenic spot. The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted, while the boy was also assaulted.
Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. An SIT was formed to identify those allegedly involved in the incident.
Five people had reportedly been arrested by September 23, including the alleged prime accused. Police said several people were identified from footage of the incident, while efforts were underway to trace the remaining accused.
Reacting to the incident earlier, Khushboo questioned the state of women’s safety and law and order and called for strict action against those responsible.
In her latest video, she also stressed the importance of self-confidence and encouraged women not to consider themselves weak. She reiterated that any self-defence equipment should be used responsibly and only for lawful self-protection.
