Pune: Class 11 Admission Process Still On, 8.85 Lakh Seats Remain Vacant in Maharashtra

Pune, 29th September 2026: Even as Class 11 classes have been underway for several weeks and the first phase of the academic year is nearing completion, the admission process for junior colleges across Maharashtra is still continuing.

After three regular rounds, the state education department has announced the 12th special round of the Class 11 admission process. Seat allotments for the round have been declared, and students can confirm their admissions at the allotted junior colleges until 6pm on September 29. The vacant seats will be displayed on October 1.

According to the latest admission data, 22,49,079 Class 11 seats are available across 9,718 junior colleges in the state. So far, 13,63,438 students have confirmed their admissions, leaving 8,85,641 seats vacant.

Under the centralised online admission process, 19,22,829 seats are available. Of these, 15,62,859 students have registered for admission, while 11,95,405 admissions have been completed, leaving 7,27,424 seats vacant.

Under various quota categories, there are 3,26,250 seats, of which 1,68,033 admissions have been completed, leaving 1,58,217 seats vacant.

As per the schedule, students allotted seats in the final special round can confirm their admissions between September 28 and September 29, with the process closing at 6pm on September 29. September 30 has been kept aside for junior college-related work, while data processing will be carried out on October 1. The remaining vacant seats will be displayed at 4pm on October 1.

With more than 8.85 lakh seats still vacant after multiple rounds of admissions, the Class 11 admission process is set to continue well into the academic year.
