Kothrud, 5th October 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police have announced a daily one-way traffic arrangement on the road connecting Mahadev Mandir Chowk to the riverbed in the Kothrud area to ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother movement of vehicles.

According to a press note issued by the Kothrud and Deccan Traffic Division, the road from Mahadev Mandir Chowk towards the riverbed is narrow and experiences frequent traffic congestion. In view of this, vehicles travelling towards the riverbed will not be allowed between 5 pm and 8 pm every day.

During these hours, the road will operate as a one-way route, with only vehicles travelling from the riverbed towards Mahadev Mandir Chowk being permitted.

Alternative routes announced

The Traffic Police have suggested two alternative routes for motorists travelling from Mahadev Mandir Chowk during the restricted period.

Under the first alternative, motorists can turn left from Mahadev Mandir Chowk, take a right turn at Padale Palace Circle and proceed via Sharda Centre towards their destination.

The second alternative route requires motorists to turn right from Mahadev Mandir Chowk, then take a left turn through Balaji Enterprises Lane before proceeding towards their destination.

The Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to use the designated alternative routes during the specified hours and cooperate with traffic police personnel and volunteers deployed in the area.

The order has been issued by Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, Pune City, under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Maharashtra Government notification cited in the official press note.

The new traffic arrangement is intended to reduce congestion on the narrow stretch and facilitate safer and smoother traffic movement in the area.
