Pune, 6th October 2026: The Pune Panther Sena has condemned the alleged assault of journalist Nikhil Shukre at an MPSC students’ protest in Pune.

In a statement issued on Monday, 5th October 2026, Pune Panther Sena founder-president Sachin Bhosale said that journalists should not be prevented from carrying out their duties or subjected to alleged mistreatment or assault.

The organisation said that protesting to raise students’ concerns is a fundamental democratic right. At the same time, it said journalists should also be allowed to perform their professional duties without being obstructed or subjected to violence.

However, the Pune Panther Sena said the identity of those responsible for the alleged incident should be established through an impartial police investigation. It also said that no political party or organisation should be held responsible before the facts of the incident are established.

The organisation has called on the Pune Police to conduct an immediate, impartial and transparent investigation and take action against anyone found responsible under the law.

The statement comes amid allegations of an assault involving journalist Nikhil Shukre at the site of an MPSC students’ protest in Pune.

The Pune Panther Sena said both students and journalists should be able to raise their concerns without being silenced, and that violence should have no place in either protests or journalism.
