Pune: Rohit Pawar Calls MPSC Chief Bhimanwar CM ‘Fadnavis’s Modern-Day Courtier’
Pune, 10th October 2026: NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar has targeted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the continued tenure of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) chairman Vivek Bhimanwar, calling him a “modern-day courtier” of the chief minister while demanding his removal from the post.
Referring to Bhimanwar’s 2014 tweet, Pawar accused the government of shielding officials who praise those in power instead of addressing students’ concerns.
Questioning why Bhimanwar had not been removed despite growing discontent among aspirants, Pawar criticised the government’s stance in a social media post. He drew a parallel with courtiers who flattered kings in the past, describing Bhimanwar as a modern-day equivalent in Fadnavis’s court in the digital era.
“When the future of lakhs of students is at stake, how long will the government continue to protect those who engage in sycophancy towards the ruling establishment? Students need accountable officials, not subservient flatterers,” Pawar said, reiterating his demand for Bhimanwar’s removal.
Pawar also alleged that the government was applying different standards in Bhimanwar’s case. He claimed that another government officer taking a similar position would have faced immediate action.
Taking a further swipe at Fadnavis, Pawar alleged that the chief minister had helped his friend enter the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and had now imposed him on students across Maharashtra.
The remarks come amid an ongoing controversy over the MPSC chairman and demands for changes in the commission’s functioning. Pawar’s criticism is likely to intensify the political confrontation over the issue.
