Pune: Two Health Dept Officials Suspended for Negligence in Child Health, Family Planning Programmes
Pune, 15th October 2026: The Maharashtra Public Health Department has suspended two assistant directors in Pune for alleged negligence in implementing key public health programmes related to child health and family planning.
The officials, Dr Rajkumar Jagtap and Dr Rajshree Dhawale, were suspended after serious lapses were found in their work, including failure to conduct field visits, inadequate monitoring and supervision, and ineffective reporting on the status of the programmes under their charge.
During a review meeting held on October 12 by the Principal Secretary-I of the Public Health Department, the performance of both officials was found to be highly unsatisfactory.
Jagtap was responsible for child health programmes, while Dhawale oversaw the family planning programme. The review reportedly found serious neglect in the implementation and monitoring of these initiatives.
During the suspension period, both officials will be stationed at the General Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. They will not be permitted to leave their designated headquarters without prior approval from the competent authority.
The suspension orders also prohibit them from taking up private employment or engaging in any trade or business during the suspension period.
