Pune: Three Ugandan Women Detained in Marunji For Overstaying Visas
Pimpri Chinchwad, 15th October 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad police’s Foreigners Registration Department detained three Ugandan women for allegedly staying illegally in India after their visas expired. The process to deport them to their home country has been initiated.
Assistant inspector Rajashree Pawara of Special Branch-II received information that some foreign nationals were staying illegally at Happy Homes Society in Marunji. A police team, acting under the guidance of senior inspector Vijay Waghmare, raided the premises and found the three women — Dorek Ahaisabwe, Prossy Ankunda and Amina Katusime, all Ugandan nationals.
Verification of their documents through the Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) system revealed that Dorek had entered India on a student visa, while Prossy and Amina had arrived on medical visas. All three visas had expired, but the women continued to stay in the country without obtaining extensions.
The police warned that anyone providing accommodation to a foreign national at a residence or hotel must submit a C-form within 24 hours to inform the authorities. Failure to comply could invite legal action.
